Dallas Animal Services Has ‘Urgent’ Need for Adoptions as Shelter Fills Up

Dallas Animal Services’ shelter is filled to its highest capacity since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the agency is asking willing, able, and qualified adopters and fosters to take home a cat or dog this week.

It’s free to adopt any pet right now, although the agency says it really needs people to take some medium-sized and large dogs off its hands. Go here to see some of the adorable dogs now up for adoption. I see quite a few potential best friends.

The shelter at Westmoreland and I-30 in West Dallas will open to in-person visitors Wednesday, but you can also adopt online and schedule a curbside pickup, or attend one of several pop-up adoption events being scheduled in the near future. Another option is to visit the PetSmart Everyday Adoption Center near Coit and Campbell roads in Far North Dallas.
